How many busy moms out there are looking to make their everyday recipes healthier?!
I know you’re saying to yourself, “Me! Right here!!” In my efforts to make my family healthier meals without having to cut out our favorite ones, I got creative and came up with some simple substitutions. Most of them you won’t even notice!
Use lettuce in place of tortillas for wraps
Ground turkey is great instead of using ground beef (we rarely ever eat beef)
Use zucchini to replace pasta – just make sure you wring it out to get rid of excess water (I use the Veggetti to make zoodles)
Cauliflower is a great substitute for potatoes – the hubby loves cauliflower mash… as for me, I don’t like my potatoes messed with… I’ll gladly eat those calories and not be ashamed!
This is one of my favorites… plain greek yogurt in place of sour cream, you can’t even tell!
Instead of giving your kids juice try adding some fresh fruit to their water, so much less sugar!
Get sweet potato fries instead of regular fries they are high in Vitamin A, fiber, and potassium.
When you make spaghetti use spaghetti squash – my kids L O V E it!
This one really only applies to baking… substitute unsweetened applesauce in place of sugar 1 cup = 1 cup (depending on the recipe you might have to reduce the liquid)
